Hi Friends! Fun fact: It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. The key to this statement tho is planned.
So, on that note I’d like to share this is a great article from the VeganRD on how to plan your plant-based diet:
Most of you know, on this blog I offer tips, tricks and great recipes to help you plan super healthy meals and will continue to do so 🙂
Below are a few quick recipes ideas for you using veggie meats that will help you meet your daily protein requirement (along with other requirements). I eat veggie meats every once in a while and do really love them, I do try to focus on more whole foods in general (beans, greens, veggies and fruits). These products are super fun, quick and easy and there are so many amazing veggie meats that are so delicious, so I say go for it! As long as you aren’t eating animals, everyone wins! 🙂 I also really like to support businesses that provide us with a cruelty-free alternative.
Here I made a quick lunch of this really delicious Engine 2 Burger (I bought this at Whole Foods) with a base of lightly steamed cress and topped with a lightly stewed organic tomato and chopped olives. This was very good!! I am going to experiment with cress, apparently it is very healthy and the new “kale” superfood. You could also you an alternative veggie pattie (or make your own) and layer it with other veggies.
Next I bought the above salad mix at Costco. Costco, by the way, has some great produce and other great deals on vegan and healthy products. You can also purchase these similar super yummy bagged salads at your regular grocery store.
The prepared Gardein Chick’n strips above topped the Asian Chopped Salad along with some included cashews, sesame seeds and almonds. You can find Gardein a most supermarkets now and they are really good, many varieties and every one I’ve tried, I’ve liked.
Here you go! Super easy, very healthy Asian Chopped Salad with Mandarin Orange Crispy Chick’n! Great for lunch and super fresh. Tons of great veggies too!
Another fun meatless meat idea are these awesome meatballs!
Here I added some marinara,
and put the meatballs on a nice bun, and Voila! Meatless Meatball Sandwich! Delish! Quick and super easy. Top with some Daiya mozzarella cheese for more richness and flavor.
And finally, a super easy Spaghetti and Meatless Meatballs dish…. I sautéed up some garlic, onion, kale and then added the marinara and meatless meatballs. You can then top spaghetti with this sauce or also spaghetti squash would be very good.
It’s so easy to eat cruelty-free and eat delicious food too!! I encourage you to explore these great vegan meats and get creative with your meals, most of these dishes would be fun for the whole family! 🙂
See you next week!
